Portsmouth Pocket Garden

Downtown Portsmouth, NH provides the setting for this Asian inspired landscape design where redesigning an existing treasured Koi pond was paramount. Defining the small space into key elements as well as having each element relate to each other was critical to creating this small space that is both relaxing and purposeful. Careful site planning and management were essential as existing and new materials were brought in to create privacy screening from neighbors, walkways, a dry riverbed, a play area for the client’s dogs and terraces for lounging and dining. Granite, brick, bluestone and peastone are some of the natural stone materials incorporated in the design. We are honored that this house was chosen to participate in the 2009 Portsmouth Pocket Garden Tour.

“Our goal as designers is to go beyond simply providing solutions for our clients’ needs.  We create personal space that integrates the natural setting with the architecture of the home thus creating a beautiful design that has meaning and context.”
