We are honored to have this York, Maine landscape design featured in Coastal Home Magazine’s Summer 2013 Issue in an article titled “Living with Ledge”. Sometimes it is the most challenging sites that reap the biggest rewards. This front yard property was transformed from an indistinct and raw space to a warm and inviting destination by unearthing the natural ledge. Individual outdoor rooms are defined with granite blocks. Natural stepping-‐stones and steps are intuitive pathways from the intimate sunken spaces to the house. A fire pit and night lighting enhance the warm feeling. Native New England perennials, shrubs and trees provide all season interest.
